It seems Microsoft have begun succeeding in their main market again. After losing to the PS4 consistently the first few months after launch, it seems the Xbox One has finally begun its winning ways by replicating the Xbox 360’s success in the US.
The Xbox One S’s launch has proved to be really successful for Microsoft. The $299 console which features an UHD blu-ray drive, 4K, HDR and other capabilities has really captured the imagination of the US public.
The PS4 Slim meanwhile does not feature an UHD blu-ray and that could be the reason why the sales aren’t that better than the Xbox One S. The console saw year-over-year growth in September in the US, Australia, UK and other countries.
“Thanks to our fans, Xbox One was the best-selling console in September in the U.S. for the third month in a row according to NPD Group as well as the best-selling console in September in the U.K. according to GfK Entertainment UK. This success was driven by our fans and their support for Xbox One S, which is the only console available this holiday with built-in UHD 4K Blu-ray, 4K video streaming and HDR for gaming and video,” Microsoft’s statement read.
Competition is great and hopefully this will keep Sony on their toes.
