Xbox One External Storage Support at Launch Seems Unlikely

Major Nelson has revealed in a podcast that the Xbox One won’t support external storage, which means you can’t use your flash drive as a hard disk. The Xbox 360 got this ability later in its lifecycle but it’s weird that the Xbox One won’t support it at launch.

However, space should not be an issue since it comes with 500GB hard drive.

“The Xbox One will ship with a 500GB hard drive, all of them have that. The future plan is definitely to support external storage, much like we do on the Xbox 360,” Nelson revealed in his podcast, which features guests like Abbie Heppe, community manager for Titanfall, and Chris Carla of ID @ Xbox program.

“My understanding is that feature won’t be there at launch because the team’s working on other things. It’s definitely on the list, but I don’t know when it’ll come in though.”

The Xbox One comes out later this year in 13 countries and here’s the full list.
