Ubisoft has revealed that they plan to make games on the Watch_Dogs IP for years to come. Bungie has revealed that they have a 10-year plan in place for Destiny and Ubisoft will do the same for Watch_Dogs.
Producer of the game Dominic Guay told The Guardian that the IP will be something that they will be using for a long time. Considering GTA brings in a lot of money for Take-Two, an open world game from Ubisoft may be beneficial in the long run for the publisher.
“If there’s a clear long-term plan, you’ll have stronger characters, the universe will be more coherent. So when you have the luxury of creating a new brand – which is happening less and less in this industry, you need to do just that,” he said.
“We’ve been doing the same thing Bungie has been doing – we’re trying to see how our characters and world will evolve. That’s always in the back of our heads.”
Watch_Dogs will be released later this year for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and the next-gen consoles. You can check out the gameplay video and special edition details here.
