PlayStation Vita’s final design was completely different than the prototype version. Every company goes through various prototypes before finalizing a model and it’s interesting to see a meaty video of how the PS Vita looked before it was announced.
The prototype had SD card support instead of the proprietary cards Sony went with in the final version that jacked up the price significantly.
This video is made by AssemblerGames who have a lot of cool videos like this on their YouTube channel. If you haven’t followed them yet, I recommend you to do that.
It also shows why Sony failed so hard with the PS Vita and they actually had a good product in hand. It’s clear that there won’t be a new handheld system from Sony so this video shows you that Vita’s fate could have been different if this was the final model.
