Tomb Raider was originally actually called Tomb Raider: Ascension and was Inspired by Resident Evil, Shadow of the colossus and Ico.
Now that sounds like a recipe for success, doesn’t it? It gets even better. The game had giants and demons as enemies, Lara had a flamethrower as a weapon, and it also had horseback-riding, along with a little girl as a gameplay companion.
Geoff Keighley actually covered this in his ‘Final Hours of Tomb Raider’ work, but we finally have the assets for it now.
The game we actually got featured none of these elements; however, it was a survival game and a damn good one at that.
