Thief E3 2013 Details: Loot, Lockpicking, Minimaps, Gameplay, More

Thief 4 7

Thief was shown at E3 this year and some new information has come out of it thanks to an Eidos Montreal community manager.

He has posted a lot of information on their official forums and here’s a summary of all that.  Missed the reveal? You can check out some screenshots here.

There are animals in the game, mostly dogs. The game is said to be extremely atmospheric, and the word “taffer” is back. Health and Focus do not regenerate and require you to use consumables.

The HUD can be turned off and is optional. Lockpicking is said to be straightforward and if you use the focus power you will be able to open it more easily.

Loot is said to be a common sight in the game. Garrett will be able to steal things from anywhere and there will be a lot of opportunities for him to do that.

There’s a full map and a minimap. The gameplay is said to be slow and methodical. Rushing can usually end up badly for the player. There are a lot of secrets in the game and some levels are rigged with booby traps.

If two guards are standing next to each other they cannot properly see what’s in front of them because the view is being blocked. The cone of vision is said to be realistic and guards can also look up.

There’s a new equipment called Claw which can help Garret climb walls. You can check out more details on the game that was revealed before. Eidos Montreal had also released a behind-the-scenes video.

The game comes out next year on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
