Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us has been a massive critical hit and it seems people from markets that aren’t that receptive to western games are enjoying it too.
The game has sold 117,465 copies in Japan, and this was in the launch week. This means a total sell through of 88% which is incredibly good. So what makes people so attracted to this game? Normally it’s difficult to see western games hit the 100k mark but this game has managed to pass that easily.
The game is about an escort story set in a post-apocalyptic world which is faced with Corcyceps crisis–a parasite that threatens to wipe out humanity. Some remain obviously but the world is a much harsher place than it was before.
The sales data are from Media Create which is usually very accurate. Stay tuned to Gamechup for more news and information.
