So we know that Sony will reveal the PlayStation 4 at PS Meeting 2013.
However, that event is going to be extremely important to them for a lot of reasons. Recently Michael Pachter said that they have invited investors to the event that will be held on February 20 at NYC, along with the media.
It’s clear that a new hardware unveil that too from one of their biggest brands will be seen by many, especially their shareholders, since they will be extremely interested in what Sony has in stored for turning the company’s fortunes around.
The very reason they have invited the investors tells us that they are going to be showing how much support the system has from third-party publishers. They are going to give a reason to the investors and tell them why this product is going to be a game changer for the company.
The PS4 matters to Sony as a whole, and unlike the Vita, which didn’t have the support of the industry behind it for obvious reasons, PS3′s successor won’t face the same issues.
This makes it clear that we will see a montage with tons of games not only from third-party publishers like EA and Activision, but also from Sony’s internal studios like Polyphony Digital and Guerrilla Games.
The PS Meeting 2011 showcased Vita’s hardware capabilities and some games were also shown like Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
However, games are going to be the main priority when it comes to the PS4 reveal because that’s the only thing that will convince their shareholders and investors that the system has a future–that and the pricing of course, which should be revealed at E3 this year.
