Single Player Games Dead? God of War Director Doesn’t Think So

God of War is a commercial success selling 3.1 million copies in just three days but the thing that made it possible was the critical success with tons of outlets giving the game a perfect score.

It’s not hard to find single player games nowadays with every game having some sort of a multiplayer component. It is rumoured that the upcoming Call of Duty game won’t have a single player mode which is a bit disappointing.

However, it’s part of a trend. The people who buy single player games have been steadily declining but considering God of War’s success it is clear that there is an audience that’s still interested in these games.

Cory Barlog who is the director of God of War believes that single player games aren’t dead. In an interview with IGN he revealed that “It’s not about a competition between multiplayer and single-player. It’s not about any of them being alive or dead, right? It is Schrödinger’s cat. We are alive and we are dead at the same time, right? And we will always be that way. And it will be an ebb and flow throughout time.”

He also added that, “Single-player games are the phoenix at this point.”

We would definitely love to see the sequel to God of War and it might not be a long wait for fans to play the sequel and experience the god of lightning in all his glory.
