PS4 PlayStation Plus Details: Cross Game Chat doesn’t require the service

playstation plus

We have some new details on PS Plus for the PS4. It will be required to play online but not for free-to-play games or MMOs. One subscription will grant access to all accounts on that system.

Cross game chat and other media functions won’t require the subscription. This includes services like Netflix.

Games will be added and removed just like the current subscription on PS3 and you will be getting one new PS4 game every month. It’s not clear whether it would be a PS Plus edition like DriveClub which has altered content.

The subscription isn’t required for automatic updates. It will cost $50 or $5 per month. It’s something you pay for PS Plus already on PS3 so it really isn’t a surprise.

The PS4 will be released sometime later this year and according to some retailer listings in Europe, it could be out on November 13. However, Sony has said that it’s just a placeholder date.

My only problem with psn plus is the so called free game is only free as long as you have the subscription…which is better then nothing, but still its deceiving to say its free…more on a long renting cycle. The fact that cross game chat makes headlines should tell you the state of PSN…really, cross game chat is a bullet point..come on. You also only need one gold account per X1 also…. well PSN does hold the crown for biggest personal info leak, and the most random crashes and bricks during maint patches.

you really cant expect them to give you a bucketload of games in just a fraction of a games price, can you? its pretty much an ingenious business model.

but why focus on everything you just said when the competition didn’t have any that even? Also, “most random crashes and bricks”? come on dude why are you lying to yourself and everyone. Does it matter if it happens during patches or while you are playing a game? Its no big secret that xbox has the most bricks in video game history, so please don’t insult anyone’s intelligence.

You only need one PS Plus subscription so that up to 10 of your accounts can play online.

      info leak?
      they was hacked.
microshaft give the info away to anyone that wants it through prism and its gonna get worse with xbone.
i trust sony over MS,infact iwould rather trust hackers than MS with my details.

Sony will also give away your data. When you’re ordered by a court to
give the date, you give it. It’s not about MS, it’s the government
coming to your door and telling you to give something. News flash, this
has been going on since 2001.

      @ michael clanton
dude seriously, shut the fuck up with your complaining and whining, you little bitch! You’re bitching over nothing. If you think that paying $60 a yr just to be able to play online is such a great deal, then stick with MS and get the overpriced and underpowered X1. And you’ve always just needed 1 Plus account for all accounts on the system to be able to access the downloaded Plus content. You could not do that on 360. And biggest info leak? STFU with that bullshit, how about MS giving out all your info to the NSA, so shut it stupid! And the games Plus gives you are as good as free and they give you a ton of games. Unlike paying $60 just to play online.

cross game chat should be something that PS4 should be adapted to NOT with PSN+
360 did cross game chat from the start.

Its a bullet point because Xbox Live charges for cross game chat.

Cross game chat will obviously be more than 1 on 1 chat on ps4.

UK Government holds the record for biggest personal info leak – there’s just a tiny bit more to life than gaming lad ;).

Games that are free, that you don’t pay at all, you can play as long as you have PS Plus. Anything you pay for (discounted or on sale) you keep even if you don’t have PS Plus.

Sony just won’t stop going for my wallet will they!?! Take my money now and stop the bullshit…please!

This makes no sense, Cross game chat requires a subscription yet multiplayer does?

It just keeps further proving the point that multiplayer is just a gate fee on PS+ and not an actual service you are paying for.

What!? that made no fucking sense, english please. You dont need Plus to do cross game chat, its free, you dont need Plus to play f2p or mmo’s online, you also dont need it to do the automatic updates or access any of the media apps, like netflix, hulu, amazon instant video, browser, etc. You need to pay $60 for all that on 360/X1 and you’re only getting 2 games per month til the end of the yr(we dont know whats gonna happenafter that). You pay $10 less for Plus and get way more games per month (4-6 games), 50% to 75% discounts on games and a hell of a lot more. Plus and PS4 are way more worth it (PS4 is cheaper and more powerful)

wait so without PSN+ i can play online for free on MMO Free-2-Plays?
that’s cool. It wouldn’t make sense when it says FREE TO PLAY and you can’t play it online unless you have PSN+ (retarded)

also i highly doubt PS4’s PSN+ free games will be the same as PS3’s PSN+ free games.
Because ps3 psn+ allows us to have free games every month, and for ps4 that will have less game, how exactly would one have free games every month?
if that’s the case then buy a ps4 and don’t buy any game since every month you can download free games all the time.

The games you download from ps+ can be played on the ps4. Even the ones now.

        June 24, 2013 at 3:44 am

ps4 is not backwards compatible. you can only play old games via Gaikia which will be another subscription model.
all the functions of PSN+ on ps3 only carries over to PS4 but not the games and stuff you bought.

      June 25, 2013 at 3:29 pm

MMO’s will have their own separate online fee.

“FREE to play” aka most free MMO games arent really free , its just a hell hole covered with a “golden” lid and into that hell hole resides a demon called Payotuwinno .

my ps plus subscription has already paid for itself in one month. no problem paying $5 a month. there are no legit complaints that can come from it espcially when they give you games like saints row and uncharted

    June 23, 2013 at 3:07 pm

So why are they charging for PS+ again? So much hate about Live but PS+ gets a free ride? I know Sony fans will support it but if you step back, you know they are going for the pockets. MS greedy but Sony is Devine. Just call it as I see it. Neither company is my friend and bs is bs.

    June 23, 2013 at 3:10 pm

I see a lot of post about personal info security and all that. I hope everyone so scared about it stops using Google and Facebook then. It’s not just MS.

I have been with Sony from PS1, now I’m leaving Sony for ever to play PC full time, I’m not paying for online

I would rather have Sony taking my money than Microsoft. At leasy Sony use their own consoles at E3 and they stand by their product! Microsoft used high end PC’s running windows 7! At least Sony are not shoving a camera in my face forcing me to have it giving me no say in the matter! If there was no alternative to xbox one, Microsoft would not have changed their policies! Wake up and vote with your wallet!
