Pokemon X and Y announced for the 3DS: Full 3D, New Starters

There was an announcement scheduled for January 8, which mentioned that there will be a new Pokemon announcement.

Well, there has been one, and just like we reported, Nintendo has announced a new Pokemon title for the 3DS. The announcement was done at a Nintendo Direct event where Iwata said that it will be fully 3D and will also feature a lot of new gameplay mechanics.

The trailer that was shown at the event is yet to be released officially, but from what I’ve seen it looks really promising. The title is called Pokemon X and Y, and will be released on October 2013.

According to the trailer, your bond with your it will increase as you keep doing battle with your Pokemon. Considering it’s releasing this year, it seems like Iwata really wants Pokemon out worldwide since the 3DS sales in the west are pretty underwhelming. However, it has sold 10 million units in Japan.

“The worldwide launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y this October allows players to begin their adventures at the same time,” said Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokémon Company.

“We brought Pokémon into an entirely new dimension and we’re incredibly excited to bring Pokémon X and Pokémon Y  to fans,” said Junichi Masuda, video game director at GAME FREAK inc. “The stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world.”

Here are the images of some of the new starters. Let us know what you think of this announcement in the comments section below.
