Konami has revealed that the lack of PS4 and Xbox One install base means that they won’t be putting PES 2014 on either console. The game has already been announced for the current gen consoles and runs on their next-generation FOX Engine.

FIFA 14 meanwhile will appear on the next-gen consoles and has a great chance to establish an audience. The reason given was only a lack of install base and not a lack of budget.

“We’re not sure how quickly the uptake of the next generation will go”, Konami’s Manorito Hosoda told CVG. “The fan base is with the current gen, and before moving on we want to make a good game with the new engine.”

Konami’s FOX Engine will help them to compete against the juggernaut FIFA but not giving them competition on PS4 and Xbox One means they will be on the back foot.

Meanwhile, you can read some details on the game. There’s also a video that shows the new features that will be available to the player.
