NX: Nintendo targeting Smartphone Gamers, Power Between PS3-PS4

nintendo wii u

We are getting a clear picture of what Nintendo’s next-gen console would be like and it is certain that it won’t be a console like the PS4 and Xbox One.

It also means that you can forget about multiplatform titles being created for the NX which run on the other consoles as well. However, Nintendo is targeting the smartphone demographic and the Nintendo diehards to buy their new console.

A gaming executive who got some hands-on time with the console said, “It’s a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one…It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”

It is too early to say if Nintendo can catch lightning in a bottle like they did with the Wii, but the NX is supposed to be very powerful, something between the PS3 and PS4 and that would make it a desirable handheld console.

Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Thanks, MCV.

This has failure written all over it, if Nintendo doesn’t at least make it on parity or somewhere between the XBONE and PS4, then they won’t really attract gamer (other than Nintendo fans-which I am one, so I’ll pick it up just like I have a WiiU), and smart phone/tablet casuals will ~still~ be able to get their gaming kicks at a much cheaper price point than the Nx. Someone needs to fire the whole of Nintendo leadership and start over. What is even worse is if this thing doesn’t come with backward compatibility with the DS and 3DS (unlikely from what we hear), but if so that ~could~ save it. Or if it doesn’t have backward compatibility with the Wii and WIiU in some form of portable disk-drive add-on.
