Minecraft creator Markus Persson had earlier mentioned that he would be willing to fund Pyschonauts 2.
Double Fine and he could get together can make it happen, but now it has been revealed that the project costed much more than he originally expected. That’s fair though, he was ready to fund $2 million because he thought the game would make back that amount easily, but according to him the cost was much higher than he anticipated.
“I somewhat naively thought ‘a couple of million’ was two million. I had no doubt in my mind that a Psychonauts 2 would earn that money back easily. Turns out they wanted 18 million dollars, haha,” he wrote on Reddit.
“Perhaps in some distant future when I’m no longer trying to make games, I could get into angel investing. I’ve made one private investment into a game so far, at $100K, and it’s frankly a lot more work than I thought.”
He can afford the money though, he apparently made $101 million last year. What do you think about this? Let us know below.
