We have some new details on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CD Projekt’s game director and lead quest designer reveal a bit more information on the game in a new video interview with Game Informer, and we have collected some important details that you would love to know.

The game was revealed earlier this month and has been confirmed for a next-gen release. The game utilizes the studio’s new REDengine 3 and features a massive open world.

They reveal that they were happy with the second game but they wanted to make an open world game, and The Witcher 3 is that game that allows them to realize that vision. They are huge fans of Skyrim and everyone in the studio plays the game.

Skyrim was a generic game according to them, and they disliked the way it handled quests. The NPCs were mute spectators and didn’t acknowledge your actions. They feel that NPCs should be more lively and we will see that in The Witcher 3. They believe that they can make the perfect RPG if they study other games and apply their own knowledge as well.

They liked the way Fallout: New Vegas combined a good story and open world without adding too many cutscenes. They also want to preserve the pacing of The Witcher 2 and apply that to an open world game. Players will be rewarded for exploring the world.

The questing in The Witcher 3 will be bit better where there will be always something interesting and distracting for the players on their journey. They wanted to implement horse riding in The Witcher 2 but the linear level design would not allow for it, however, it has been made possible in the third game.

Huge emphasis on Vistas. Vistas need to deliver the feeling that you can explore things in the distance.
