Microsoft’s Next-Gen Console Likely In 2020 – Report

Microsoft’s next-gen hardware codenamed Scarlett will be released in 2020, according to a report by Thurrot website. Phil Spencer revealed at their E3 conference that their hardware teams were working on next-generation consoles.

The codename Scarlett refers to a family of next-gen devices according to Brad Sams, the author of the article.

He wrote that “This past week, I was tipped off that the next generation Xbox was codenamed Scarlett and in an effort to track down if this information was accurate, I was able to view content that highlighted several unannounced Microsoft products that are coming in the next two years.”

The new console will most likely support backwards compatibility. There’s still a few years to go for 2020 but hopefully Microsoft doesn’t make the same mistakes it made with the Xbox One S.

Earlier Sony mentioned that the PS4 is entering it’s final lifecycle.
