Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Famitsu details: “ending will be satisfying”

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII’s ending will satisfy the players, according to producer Yoshinori Kitase.

The third game in the FFXIII saga which features Lighting as the main protagonist will also be the last one. Japanese magazine Famitsu has released some new details for the game.

Players will be able to change Lightning’s costume and customize her to their liking. There will be more than 20+ costumes and it is designed by Square Enix veteran, Tetsuya Nomura. The game has to be beaten in a limited time, however, you can use the pause menu which stops the internal clock to take a breather and devise strategies.

She is the only playable character in the game and uses ‘Styles’ which consists of weapon, shield, accessories, and abilities. She can defeat monsters to increase the time available to her and also level up her weapons and other equipment; this is an RPG after all.

The battle system is being called the “Amazing ATB” battle system, and the name is not finalized. The monsters aren’t recycled a lot from previous Final Fantasy games and more than 50% of them are new. There will be no ending DLC for the game like Final Fantasy XIII-2, and players will be able to experience the entire story with the base package they bought.

The magazine reveals something about a Black Haze which will appear at certain times, maybe filled with monsters. NPCs are randomly placed as well nd you will only be able to get certain information at appropriate times.

We also revealed a bit more details about game length, time mechanic, the last time we covered the game.
