Capcom’s senior VP of planning and business development Christian Svensson has left Capcom after the company laid off a bunch of people.
We also have their official statement on these lay offs. They said that this was due to an organizational restructure, and something that has also undergone at Microsoft.
“Capcom today laid off several employees from the US office as part of an overall organizational restructure of the company. The transition to the new generation of hardware and changing industry landscape have required us to adapt our business to best meet our new goals. We sincerely thank each individual for their contributions and wish them well.”
They have mentioned next-gen transition as a reason and that’s something intriguing because that seems to be an odd reason for the lay offs.
The company has been chugging along decently but not exceptionally well. Their main IP Resident Evil 6 performed less than they expected.
