Hideo Kojima has said that Metal Gear Solid 5 will challenge players. It will be the boldest game yet and he would like to succeed in the United States because it’s the largest market where the franchise sells the most.
This could be a reason why he is so close to Microsoft now and the game was also demoed at Microsoft’s E3 conference. It has been officially announced for the Xbox One. In an interview with Famitsu, he has revealed that he wants to develop a game that can please gamers on a global scale.
“Metal Gear sells the most in the United States. The largest market is also the United States, and they’re home to the world’s largest game show in E3. Naturally, we’d like to compete and win against the world’s best, there. Metal Gear Solid V’s ‘V’ also stands for ‘Victory,’ which also means that we’d like to win in a global scale, once again,” he said.
“In the past 15 years, hardware has continued to evolve, but I don’t think the substance of games have evolved as much. In a sense, I’d like to take a step forward. But If I go too far, I may not be able to sell as much in Japan (laughs). Not only the graphics, but I want to increase the quality within the games themselves.”
The game will be released on next-gen platforms and features tablet integration. Kojima is fond of social features but he hasn’t announced what features the game will have yet. The game will feature an online mode and user generated missions.
We will keep you updated in case he does.
