Microsoft has revealed that the Kinect bundled with the Xbox One can be used for chat and it does have echo cancellation capabilities.
The console has been priced at $499 and the Kinect that it comes with is an advanced version compared to the one for the Xbox 360. It is also the reason why the company hasn’t bundled a headset with the console.
If you remember the Xbox 360 came with a headset but the Kinect was optional since it was revealed in 2010.
“Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars Technica.
“Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.”
The Xbox One does have an assortment of accessories and the headset design is pretty good.
