GTA 5 PC and Wii U versions under consideration, Nintendo’s Reggie Comments

GTA 5 is currently confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360, and people are speculating a 6 months delay for the PC version, however, Rockstar has said that it is under consideration.

Rockstar Games have mentioned that it is entirely dependent on their business model because they’re not a platform holder, they’re a software company that puts their software on platforms that make financial sense for them to do so.

If you are worried that GTA 5 won’t end up on the PC or Wii U like Red Dead Redemption, Dan Houser from Rockstar Games had something to say about it.

“Everything else is up for consideration. That’s all I can give you,” he told IGN. “The main thing is we are not…we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft.”

“We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that’s on Apple we put something on Apple.

“Wherever it might be. I think that’s the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don’t make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.”

Well that was quite a diplomatic answer, and Reggie Fils-Aime from Nintendo is hopeful that the game will end up on the Wii U. However, according to latest reports, the Wii U memory is 43% weaker (slower) than PS3 and 360′s memory, and it’s a widely reported fact that even its CPU is weaker. Wonder if that will play a role in keeping GTA 5 from ending up on the system.

“The folks there have said very nice public comments about the Wii U,” Reggie told MTV (ViaVG247). “In the end, it is Nintendo’s responsibility to have a large installed base, to have development tools that help the developers and publishers create great content, and essentially create an environment where teams like Rockstar can bring their very best content to our platform, and if we do that hopefully the very best content throughout the entire industry will show up on Wii U.”

GTA 5′s second trailer was released a few days ago, and it’s stunning. The game comes out in Spring 2013.
