Google is reportedly working on its own version of Android gaming console after the Ouya hit the shelves at $99 and is doing pretty well.
Considering there’s hardly much competition in the space since Ouya was the first one to try something like this after a massive Kickstarter success, Google’s entry would be seen as a welcome move.
Wall Street Journal reports that they are developing a “videogame console and digital wrist watch” and both of them will be powered by Android.
The console would not compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo and may be targeted a different market which favors a reasonably priced device. The console war is just heating up and Apple could also be planning something similar which runs on iOS, and they should definitely change the market dynamics if they chose to do that.
