Gaming Addiction a Mental Health Condition, Says WHO

World Health Organisation has listed gaming addiction as a mental health condition that a lot of kids are falling prey to. It comes on the heels of the hugely popular game called Fortnite from Epic Games where people have been addicted to it and there was a case where a kid went into rehab for playing it.

“Impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences,” the Telegraph article reads.

Fortnite has become increasingly popular and it’s almost like a new cultural fad like Pokemon Go was. The game consists of 100 players fighting each other in a gigantic map and trying to survive and make it out as the sole survivor.

Games like Call of Duty: Black Ops are hugely popular as well and the upcoming instalment in the series might even break sales records.

WHO has a great article on this.
