Square Enix has reversed the decision to not allow YouTube users to monetize Final Fantasy XIV videos. They have updated their policies page for the game and have added this section.
You may not use the Materials for any sales or commercial use, meaning you cannot receive license fees or advertising revenue, except as part of the partner programs operated by YouTube.com, Twitch.tv, Ustream.tv, or similar programs. If the operator of a partner program seeks to confirm our policy, please point them to this page as we do not have the resources to respond to all requests.
However, the old text is still there which reads, “You may not monetize your video via the YouTube partner program or any similar programs on other video sharing sites.”
Maybe they forgot to remove the old text, but the latest update seems seems to be the accurate one. We have sent an email to Square Enix and will update this post once they give us a statement.
Recently the company stopped the digital orders for the game citing server upgrades.
