FIFA 14 has minor adjustments to the gameplay but the game speed won’t be changed, according to Nick Channon, producer of the game. The game introduces a lot of new features and will be released later this year.
“I don’t want people to think it’s harder,” he told OXM. “It’s just much more fun, having to build up the play a little bit. We know FIFA 13 could be a little bit cheap at times – the way you could run through and score.
“Tightening things up makes you think a bit more and be a little bit more creative. We also had a lot of feedback saying FIFA 13 felt fast. We’re not changing the game speed but because the marking was loose you had more time to sprint.”
What do you think? Is this the right thing to do? Did you feel the game speed in FIFA 13 was too fast and needed to be changed here? Let us know in the comments section below.
You can watch the gameplay trailer here. There are next-gen versions of the game announced as well and they will be running on EA’s Ignite engine. The PC version of the game won’t feature that engine.
