Microsoft’s Marc Whitten has revealed that every Xbox One can play work in progress games and they want everyone to become a creator. If you have an interest in developing games, the Xbox One can run it but you need to get an authorisation code from Microsoft.
“Our vision is that every person can be a creator,” Whitten said. “That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE.
“This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE. We’ll have more details on the program and the timeline at gamescom in August.”
Indies can now self-publish on the Xbox One, which is something that was revealed recently and was supposed to be a big Gamescom announcement. What self-publishing means is that game developers don’t need a publishers to publish their games and can do it themselves.
