EA offers a free game to SimCity buyers

SimCity owners going through issues connecting to the game will have to wait a bit before the servers can handle the capacity.

However, EA wants you to forget about all this and become friends again. They are offering a free game to users who activated the game.

The server issues have been improved and the reason for all the troubles was that a lot more people logged on than they expected. “More people played and played in ways we never saw in the beta,” Lucy Bradshaw, general manager of Maxis Label, revealed.

“OK, we agree, that was dumb, but we are committed to fixing it. In the last 48 hours we increased server capacity by 120 percent. It’s working – the number of people who have gotten in and built cities has improved dramatically. The number of disrupted experiences has dropped by roughly 80 percent.”

They have also announced a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. This will be available on March 18.

“I know that’s a little contrived – kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.”

No. Why would I expect any game from them to function properly. I did not buy their offering, I want the one I paid for to function properly and not to wait and hope it will eventually magically start to play. I for one do not expect it. Too many false promises and misleading statements from EA/Maxis. They refuse to refund and call it our (the customer) fault their product is broken. I don’t want that bribe, I want my money back.

    Fuck off EA.
    We’re done.
You’ve fucked sim city right in the arse, and you and your always-on DRM are going to strangle the life out of the games industry.
Die screaming with sharp things in your head.,
