EA Issues an Unpopular Response to Battlefront 2 Unlock Queries

EA is having to face a heavy backlash due to Battlefront 2 unlock and microtransactions. Almost all content in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 can be unlocked without paying but the level of time investment required is quite high and this has angered the Star Wars fan base on Reddit and other social media sites.

A Reddit user asked the question “Do I have to pay $80 to unlock Darth Vader?! This is a joke. I’ll be contacting EA support for a refund…”

SimCity had a lot of problems as well with the community erupting over EA refusing to refund a customer and threatening account ban.

An EA representative has responded to these problems and also managed to break the record for the most unpopular comment on Reddit with 145k downvotes.

“The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes,” the account posted.

“As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.

“We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.”

This is a pretty standard statement and the first line could be called a bit insulting.

Battlefront 2 comes out on November 17th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
