Activision has revealed during their conference call that Destiny has 25 million registered users. The user count jumped by 5 million in the last three months. It was at 20 million in May and 16 million in February.
It also is the most watched console game on Twitch. Earlier it was revealed that the day one downloads for The Taken King expansion were the highest in PSN history.
On September 15, 2015, Activision Publishing and Bungie released The Taken King, the largest update to the Destiny universe yet, which was enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike.
Day-one downloads broke PlayStation records, day-one engagement saw the highest number of active players in Destiny’s history, daily player engagement is now well above 3 hours per day and the Destiny community has climbed to over 25 million registered players. Since its launch, Destiny has become the most watched console game on Twitch.
Bungie has rebounded well considering the polarising reviews the game received at launch. The Taken King, which is the latest expansion for the game, was received well by the gaming press.
There is more content in the pipeline and it remains to be seen if it will be offered for free. Bungie recently rolled out its silver microtransaction service using which you can buy cosmetic items in the game.
