Crysis 3 player complains of SLI issues, Crytek says “buy a 360”

You know when a joke goes too far that it becomes simply offensive?

Here’s an example of that. Imagine paying hundreds of dollars to buy an expensive gaming rig and expecting something to work only to be told to buy something else instead.

Crysis 3 beta just came out today, and some PC players have been having troubles running the game on SLI.

A gamer was not able to get SLI to work and asked what to do on the MyCrysis forums: “Haven’t been able to get SLI working. Running dual 660 Ti. Got the beta drivers installed, added the beta game to the list, SLI is checked, r_multigpu is set to 2…What do?”

A Crytek employee responded by posting, “Buy a 360?”. He later retracted his comment by saying it was a “joke”, but it just kind of feels really unprofessional to post something like that.

People were understandably pissed off at the reply.

“Seriously ?! such as nice support!! trolling about Crytek problem. We won’t replace our hardware because you have broken game engine, fix it!”

People can interpret the comment in different ways and some may find it genuinely funny. What are your thoughts on this?

I find it funny, even if it was for real and not meant to be a joke originally. PCs are a pain and there is no doubt about that, but they do yield the best results when things work.

should have put “Buy a sense of humour”…
Seriously, it’s a beta, if you don’t have a sense of humour and a little patience you probably shouldn’t be testing.

It was funny, give the guy a break. Gamers are being too sensitive about their system of choice. If I thought it was a serious comment I would be pissed. But the guy was joking and sometimes humor doesn’t translate well on the internet.

Using beta video drivers on a beta game, what could possibly go wrong. Should work perfectly! Sack up buddy. Developers are doing their best.

The beta drivers are for SLI support in the crysis 3 beta! If he wasn’t using the beta drivers there would be no chance SLI would work.

Pointless article digging for attention. The developer has a sense of humor. I love it. You fail.

Obviously fixes are going to happen going forward… People need to know that developers have to blow off steam every once in a while. The media likes to gobble it up and blow it out of proportion. I honestly chuckled at the guy. Sadly – the community has got their panties in a wad. Calm down – it will get fixed… Moving along now.

Buy a 360 and get that stick yout your ass.

Even if that was a serious comment, firstly its a Beta there are going to be problems. If it was the full game then throw your toys like the little child you are, untill then grow the f@#$ up.

The reason gamers are seen as children is because so many of them act like little whiney children.

“its a Beta there are going to be problems.”

Indeed. And users must report those problems. That’s what he did.

    January 30, 2013 at 12:04 pm

This is not a joke when it comes from a staff member. And yes, it’s a beta, there will be problems. That’s what betas are for, find problems, report them and fix them. That user did the work they didn’t (there is something called betatester, you pay them to do that) and receive this? What happened to you, Crytek?

    Hahaha, excellent reply from Crytek!
You don’t want PC system specific problems, buy an Xbox 360!

    January 30, 2013 at 3:50 pm

The only one’s saying it was “FKIN FUNNY” or “GROW SACKS” are the one’s that haven’t had a professional job dealing with different clients, a lot of kids don’t understand the real world and how people work when it comes to complaints or issues; Man…have they got a surprise in the FUTURE working with people. Use your brain for 5 seconds please. Here’s the problem… (and for the record, I wouldn’t of gotten mad about it personally)

Joking or not, the guy has been working pretty hard at figuring out how to fix their BETA bugs etc. especially with his 1,000$ (alone) SLi Video card setup. Now the joke is all fine and dandy, but anyone who is professional enough, understands you can’t just simply make a joke at someone’s expense and not back it up with a solution or something alike… this guy was just blunt like as if he was at home, and offered no solution.. in the business world this is unacceptable, you leave that mess at home.

Someone who is 20 years old plus, who has a professional career working with people, I ask one thing of you: Ask yourself if you would say that to a CLIENT in person? Absolutely not, much less on the internet. First off, you worry about your boss and his response to the matter because you’re representing a company and HIS job, secondly, when you write things in TEXT they CAN be taken many different ways… TRUST ME, those who have a girlfriend know this!!! When you’re appealing to the mass public, you’re bound to have some negatives, even if you link flowers in the post; someone will say, my parents just died and those exact flowers were at their funeral, I’m offended deeply.. and truly mean it.

As a professional in any career, you never “take chances” like this with clients, it’s not only completely unnecessary whether they would take offense or not, but it’s unprofessional for it offers no solutions to a real problem. NOW JOKING IS OKAY!, but it has to be followed up with something.. and a joke like this is more between your staff at work because you know each other. This guy could be just like some trolling 15 year old kid, like the one’s commenting saying, “ITS AWESOMELY HILARIOUS”… you have no clue, therefore the best option is to not do it at all or you will upset your customers… it’s very foolish. Thanks

Maybe you should take your own advice and use your brain kiddo. It was a game forum, not a professional setting. Lighten the fuck up.

It isn’t actually a beta though. Its a demo with ‘beta’ slapped onto the front of it to make people feel cool. Though I suppose in this day and age of release day patches beta and alpha releases are just marketing tools now.

wow this is just sad. no matter how hip u are when it comes to jokes.. the person who was asking for a solution wasnt obviously lookin for laughs.. and LOLs.. he was reporting a serious problem.. and that kind of trolling response from crytek staff is just not funny.. lifes not all jokes.. and i guarantee most of the ppl who find this kinda garbage funny are 360 owners and pc haters.. the way i found this article is googling this same prob ive been having. i have 2x evga gtx 680s. the best graphics card on the market. spent about 1200$ in total on both cards. for what? for crysis 3.. why spend so much. coz i can.. and if they show of amazing trailers and cant deliver on the final product then yes i have an issue.. and if the betas supposed to be any indication of the final product then they have a long way to go still..grow up..

For the guy who said he bought $1200 dollars worth of hardware cause he can just for this game, but would be upset if the game diesnt deliver. Your a fucking idiot, to spend that much for one game with out it being officially released and public reviews. Not paid. Smarting up guy, crysis 3 devs or laughing at you.
