Activision had earlier mentioned that they don’t expect Call of Duty: Ghosts to match Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 in sales due to console transition and that’s exactly what has happened.
According to market analysis firm Cowen & Company, sales are down 19% year on year and this represents a significant amount of revenue.
Doug Cruetz, an analyst from Cowen, had this to say:
We don’t think it is out of the question that the title could wind up comparing down 20% to 25% year-over-year [to Black Ops II], which is appreciably worse than the down 10 to 15% that we think is baked in to guidance.
Activision expects to do better next year when a lot more people will be having the next-gen consoles.
