The Destiny community have been asking Bungie to fix the heavy ammo bug which results in the player losing heavy ammo upon dying. Bungie has given an explanation as to why this happen and has also revealed that a fix is incoming late February.
The bug is complex but Bungie developers are trying to create a patch which will fix the issue but won’t cause other major issues.
If you wore an armor which boosts heavy ammo that extra ammo gained would be lost on death, that was the main issue arising from this bug.
“The basic flaw here is an ordering problem. Our inventory system creates your weapons when your characters spawn. When that happens, it tries to restore the same fraction of ammo that you had when you died,” said Bungie developer Jon Cable.
“The bug occurred because the weapon is created before capacity modifiers from armor perks are applied, so the persisted fraction yields fewer rounds.”
The fix’s deployment time is a bit weird because it feels like Bungie is trying to do it before House of Wolves DLC arrives but we have to give them a benefit of the doubt this time.
