Bungie had promised that Iron Banner would drop legendaries more often but that was not the case with the last Iron Banner where people complained that they did not get a single loot drop.
While personally I got the rank 5 pulse rifle Nirwen’s Mercy twice as a drop and a bunch of class items, I can’t really complain. It’s clear though that I’m in the minority as Destiny‘s Design Lead Lars Bakken explained. He also said that there was a bug in the game that was affecting Crucible drops as a whole.
“Last week, it was clear to us that you were frustrated by the Iron Banner reward drops, and rightly so! It turns out that, when we started digging into the issue, we uncovered a nasty bug that affected how Legendary drops happen throughout the Crucible, including Iron Banner,” he revealed in the latest weekly update.
“We’re working hard to ensure that the next Iron Banner will work as intended, and be even better than before. These changes will make your entire Crucible career more rewarding. Once the final details are locked, we’ll be sure to share them with you. Thanks for all the feedback, and may the Lords of Iron reward your future bravery.”
It’s not clear when these fixes will go live considering Bungie takes quite a bit of time to patch things in. We also know that they have a complex engine and it’s not easy to make edits in it.
However, they know what the problem is and are trying to fix it so that’s great.
