We all know that the Wii U install base in Japan is just 1.9 million, so most people shouldn’t be surprised with these sales that Bayonetta 2 has managed to accumulate in just 1 week.
It has just sold 38,000 copies, which is not a good attach rate, but hopefully the west should be able to salvage this game. Platinum Games have never managed to be commercially successful even though they make critically acclaimed games.
Bayonetta 2 received a 10 from Edge, which is about high as it gets. It seems clear that just like the original Bayonetta which came out on the Xbox 360 and PS3, the Wii U version is a pretty good game as well.
This should help move consoles in the west because it has failed to do that in Japan. If it doesn’t we can at least be happy that Nintendo tried.
