Ubisoft has sent out a survey which clearly shows what their intentions are.
They want to continue the franchise after Assassin’s Creed 3 and also release a new game next year. They have to do this because it’s a big franchise that brings a lot of revenue for them, however, we are not sure whether it will be a mainline title or not.
They mention a new Assassin’s Creed game which could very well be Assassin’s Creed 4 and they have also asked whether fans would like to see more of Desmond or Connor in the upcoming game.
They also tried to guage customer interest and have asked whether you would buy a new game next year or not. These questions are pretty straightforward considering a yearly release schedule can really harm the brand as we reported earlier how Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sales have fallen.
However, the game could still sell well due to the brand power, and considering AC3 has already sold millions, its sequel could also range in the same area.
Personally, I wouldn’t want a new game next year because I want a big leap in tech and gameplay, but if they can manage to keep the series fresh, then I don’t really care.
We reviewed Assassin’s Creed 3 and gave it a good score, citing “Assassin’s Creed 3 has a lot of great things about it, but it also goes backward in a lot of ways. It’s a complete value for money with tons of things to do in-game, and while it doesn’t match Assassin’s Creed 2 in overall quality, it does some things a lot better than it.”
