Enterbrain has released its lifetime sales chart for the 3DS in Japan.
Nintendo’s 3DS had a rough time when it was launched but a swift price cut changed the momentum and as of now it has sold 10 million units in Japan. These are sales from February 26, 2011 to December 6, 2013.
The exact number is 10,068,192 units. The 3DS hit this milestone on week 98 and it was launched in February 26, 2011 in Japan.
The system is on a roll in Japan but its western sales are a little weak, and hopefully with the impending announcement of a new Pokemon game, its sales should increase drastically worldwide. This is a great achievement by the system and Nintendo should be happy with its Japanese sales.
When you compare its sales to Vita, it is clear how poorly the Vita has performed but things could change if Sony picks its game up. There’s a difference of 9 million sales between the 3DS and Vita.
They have also released a chart which you can see below.
