Gamescom has kept its title as one of the largest consumer trade shows as we have the stats after the conclusion of 2013’s event. 340,000 people visited it this year, and attendance figures were up by 23%. Visitor tickets were completely sold out.

That’s mainly due to the fact that two new consoles were shown. Over 635 exhibitors from 40 countries presented 400 world premiers.

There were 6000 journalists, more than 15% from 61 countries around the world, and 140,000 square meters of exhibition space was booked. Destiny from Activision and Bungie managed to win the best of the show award.

“The gamescom 2013 was a complete success for the consumers, manufacturers and for the market.  The more than 340,000 visitors impressively underline the constantly growing relevance of digital games.  The new generation of games and consoles presented at the trade fair will give the market a clear boost,” said Dr. Maximilian Schenk, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU).
